Born & Raised Here

PURE MICHIGAN

A little over a year ago we left everything we knew to see what else was out there. God has given us so much to see right here in the USA, I’m not even interested in going over seas. Maybe one day Hawaii, but I’m in no hurry for that either. Give me the great lakes, forests, prairies, dessert and most of all, the mountains. Boy, do we LOVE the mountains, but…

Here is one of our favorite drives out in the Elk Country, Atlanta, MI. No, we didn’t get the opportunity to see any elk this time, but we have seen them in the past. But what we did see was the rubs from many bull elk. I was amazed at how many trees in an approximate 5 acre area there was that had rubs.

I was hoping to see a bear, (even though we were visited by one, one evening previously), elk, deer, bobcat, fox to share with you, (lol, I don’t ask for much), but what I did get was some fish…

BLUE GILL
ORIOLES
RED CARDINALS
ROBINS
The State Bird
SNAPPING TURTLES
COTTONTALES
TURKEYS
“THE NEIGHBORHOOD CHICKS”
A PORCUPINE
SOME GEESE & GOSLINS
MALLARD DUCK
SWANS

Today I actually did see a fox but could not get a photo fast enough. As we saw each other at the same time, it ran off. Then twice we saw some momma deer with their new born. They are so beautiful, but I’m not fast enough to get the photo. I have one month left here in Michigan and hope to get more photos of other wildlife for your enjoyment and mine.

So, besides the wildlife, there are so many different blossoms out right now. Here are a few for your viewing…

TRILLIUM GRANDIFLORUM
WILD VIOLETS
PRETTY YELLOW WEEDS
MORE WOODLAND YELLOW
APPLE BLOSSOMS
FLOWERING CRAB APPLE TREE
POPPIES

LADY SLIPPER

Then we were lucky enough to find the elusive Morel Mushroom…

We actually found enough for a couple meals in the last week. Grew up on picking mushrooms and really enjoy eating them. Glad we made it back here to enjoy them once again.

In our travels we bumped into a new fisherman casting out to see if he has any luck catching a big one. Good luck young man. Nice visiting with you and your mom.

GREAT FOOD & SERVICE

We love trying new places to eat, so we chose this small diner because the parking lot was full. If the parking lot is full, it must be good. Sure enough! We will visit here again before we leave. Clean, good food and the service was great too. Thank you Susan’s Diner for a good meal.

PEACEFULLY RESTING – AGELESS IRON
“MARGO”
A HAPPY BOSTON TERRIOR, THAT WE HAVE FUN WITH

So this is the beginning of our stay here in Michigan and we still have a month left. Can’t wait to see what we can see before we leave. Maybe we will make it out to do a little fishing this weekend yet and have a fresh pan of fish. YUM! Nothing like pan fish for example bluegill, sunfish, perch and crappie. I will let you know if we get any.

Wishing you a great summer with family and friends. Until next time, keep looking forward to the next adventure. Thank you once again for joining us in our adventures. More to come soon…
